my artefact

Have you ever heard of an artefact before? This blog post will tell you every thing that I did in my artefact. I was learning to use my perseverance learning muscle. I used this muscle in my artefact to make sure that everything is just like it needs to be. I have been learning to take my time slow and steady. I have been working on my artefact last term to get it ready to be done. Something that has challenged me in my artefact is the border. My border was a olive wreath. If you think that they are not special they are actually  really really special because they grew behind the god of the gods palace. The god of the gods name is Zeus.  Another thing that has challenged me in my artefact is getting my report done to get it stuck into my artefact. The artefact that I chose was an accordion book. Another thing that I was learning to do was to get the letters just right size for the title on the front page. The learning muscle I used to get out of the learning pit was my interdependence learning muscles. I am learning to use my Questioning learning muscle. I used this muscle in my Artefact to ask more questions all about the Ancient Olympics. I had to research to find answers to the questions and find information to put into my own words for my report.  I am proud of my Artefact because I put lots of effort into it.

Elephant art

I am learning about perspective. When the things that are far away are smaller and when things that are up close are bigger. In this art for the detail I used charcoal. I am proud of the water colors blending together because I did not think that they would blend that well. The learning muscle I was using to get out of the learning pit was my perseverance learning muscle. Something that has challenged me in art was using the charcoal.

Mural art

I have been working on my art. I am learning to keep the paint nice and flat and to stay nice and really  focused. We are all using our collaborating muscles. Matariki is all about the seven sisters and celebrating.  Matariki is also about maui and his brothers with all of there wife's. It is also about Ranginui, the sky father and Papatuanuku, the earth mother. Ranginui and Papatuanuku had 5 brothers that took over for some of the nature. All of the sisters names are Urearangi, Tupuanuku, Matariki, Tupuarangi, Waipunuarangi, Waia, Waita and the youngest Ururangi.

Maui and the fish

Characters: Maui and the four brothers.
Maui unlike his other brothers had very special talents. Maui didn’t know that. One morning Maui’s brothers were going out for a fish without him knowing. But sly Maui snuck into there waka and made sure that they didn’t see them.

The waka looked like a boat that had lots of maori details on it. When they got to the right spot for THEM they started to fish but Maui didn’t like that place so he sprung out of the spot that he was hiding in and his brothers were furious! Then one of the brothers said, “MAUI why are you here. We thought that you were asleep,” Maui replied “I was not asleep I was spying on you to see what you were up to,” The same brother said “You should not be here. We didn’t even invite you,” “I know that’s why I came. Just one question, Why did you not invite me to fish with you,”

All of the brothers said “Because you are the best at everything and we just wanted us to have some alone time by ourselves,” While they were talking Maui took the orr and started paddling to his favourite fishing spot until he was satisfied with the place. By the light of Marama the moon he found the perfect spot to fish.  One by one maui’s brothers fell asleep. But Maui stayed awake and kept on paddling with all of his strength. When the sun rose all of Maui’s brothers awoke. But something strange was going on. Maui wasn’t there! Then one of the brothers said “Where is Maui?” They were all searching around for him. Before very long one of the brothers shouted “Look over there. It’s MAUI!” Maui was fast asleep on the bottom of the waka. His brothers were shrieking right in his ear but he didn’t wake up. Then they lifted him up and threw him into the sea. Guess what? He still didn’t wake up. So they took him out of the water and parked Maui where he was again. They did every thing that they could think of but he still didn’t wake up. Then the next day he woke up and wasn’t delighted about what his brothers did. He knew that the brothers tried to wake him up because he had a headache and he didn’t feel right.

Eventually Maui’s brothers and him went fishing. But Maui’s brothers refused to give him bait so Maui hammered himself so rigid that his nose bleed and he smeared his own blood over his magical jawbone hook. After he smeared his blood over his hook, He swung the hook over his head and through the hook into the sea. Before very long Maui got something on his hook. However the fish was tremendously strong. But the fish was not as strong as maui.

Maui heaved and strained with every muscle in his body. Whenever, maui kept pulling each hand over hand, The sea got more swirly and more churny.  The fish looked sort of like a Sting-Ray only just so much more monstrous and the Sting-Ray’s skin was as smooth as a delicate baby’s head .

Have you ever caught a fish so big that the water that you were fishing in nearly made your boat tip upside - down? That is what it was like with maui and his boat.

I was learning to practice to use more similes in this piece of writing. Something that has challenged me in this writing was trying to put lots of vocabulary in it. I am proud of my writing because I worked collaboratively with every body that was around me especially the teachers. I worked as hard as I could. But not rushing obviously. The learning muscle I used to get out of the learning pit was my perseverance learning muscle. I went to a workshop to learn how to do paragraphs. I used paragraphs to show where the story sort of changed.

Art

In art I am learning about perspective. Perspective is about things looking far away by making things littler. In art there is something called the horizon line. The horizon line is something that keeps you in place when the sky meets the sea and when the sky meets land then sea. Something that I really enjoyed was blending the colors. I have been learning to over lap the colors to make the blending look really cool. I am proud of my art because I put as much effort into my art. Something that challenged me is trying to draw the hills. Next time I could use more of my perseverance muscles. The learning muscles I used  to get out of the pit was my refining muscle because I had to try it lots and lots to make it skinnier and skinnier. I used the collaboration muscle in art to work towards the end a little bit fast but also to keep it all nice and to take my time. Another learning muscle that I used to get out of the pit was a little bit of my perseverance muscles. I was in the pit because I found the overlapping really hard.

Mold science writing

Mold is so revolting. Mold is poisonous. I am proud of my mold because it has a whole lot of mold on it and I tried to do every thing right to make a fair test. Something that has challenged me is trying to focus on all of my science learning. I have been working on trying to put a whole lot of effort into my learning with mold. I am proud of my mold because it was actually quite hard to do. I really enjoyed placing the food into the bags or containers because it is so much fun and looking at the mold mostly every day. The part that was hard was the part that we had to set up all of the equipment so it was a fair test.

Here is how to set up a mold experiment
Have you ever seen your own revolting mould? Some moulds are good like slime mould and some molds are toxic! Blue vein cheese is made with mould. Penicillin is an antibiotic that comes from mould. Mould is related to mushrooms. Mould is a cousin to mushrooms. If you want to make your own mould then you need to then you need to make sure that you have fair experiments. A fair experiment means that everything needs to be fair. If you want to make you own mould then keep on reading. If your experiment isn’t fair then it's not a real experiment
Equipment:
For testing Light and dark.
  • 2 plastic bags or containers.
  • 2 samples. (Make sure they are all the same samples )
  • 1 sharpie pen.
  • 2 white labels.

Instructions:
  1. Grab the two plastic container or plastic bags.
  2. Place the samples into the two plastic bag or containers.
  3. Place the two white labels onto all of the plastic bags.
  4. Write light on one label and dark on the other label.
  5. Place the lid of the container.
  6. Place the Light samples next to the Windows.
  7. Place the Dark samples in a Dark place or in one of the container in a dark place.

I am poem

I am…
Success Criteria
Use a thesaurus to choose the best vocabulary
Choose the best nouns for the poem
Choose the best adjectives to describe some nouns
Leave the reader thinking about your poem by sharing what it inside you

I am an Artist
I wonder if I will get a Basket Ball hoop if I keep practicing
I hear chuckling from microscopic kids clowning around
I see my mother baking delicious dinner
I want to have a joyful life when I grow up
I am an Artist
I pretend that i'm a foal galloping
I feel solid drips of rain splattering all over me
I touch my miniature poodles silky fur
I worry nobody wants me around
I cry if people get irritated at me
I am an Artist
I understand if my cousin doesn't want me around
I say to myself that I can do anything
I dream of flying puppies and kittens
I try to make everybody cheerful
I hope that everything will be amazing when I am older
I am an Artist
This is my I am poem that is all about me.

I am proud of my 'I am poem' because of all of the things that are about me and because I put a whole lot of effort into it. I have been working on my 'I am poem' to put as much detail about me into it. Something that has challenged me is trying to realize what is all about me. I have been learning to do my best in everything and not rush. Next time I could change the vocab.
